The INTERREG III B project Urban Water

Eight project partners from four countries (Germany, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and France) in North-West-Europe aim at developing joint approaches for modern water management in urban space. They implement the joint strategy in different locations on their territories. Mutual contributions, exchange of experience and working out joint findings will be the transnational results. In the focus of Urban Water the partners aim at the development of sustainable, existing urban water systems. The vision is to develop a holistic and generally systemic approach for surface and sewage water systems and to implement this in exemplary locations.

The five main objectives are:

  • Improved water systems in urban areas
  • Improved cooperation and understanding between spatial planners and water managers
  • Improved regulation and policies stimulating the implementation of sound water management practices in spatial planning
  • Transnational exchange of experiences and knowledge transfer to regional, national and supranational bodies.
  • Awareness of the general public for challenges related to water in urban areas.
